Our nursery is divided into three fun areas with a free flow ethos

The crawlers and cruisers zone for babies and early walkers. This part of the nursery is cosy and cuddly with lots of soft textures and furnishings. The toys are bright and colourful providing comfort, fun and challenging stimulation.
The staff provide care that is loving and gentle with lots of focused attention and cuddles
The walkers zone for children who are confident on their feet. This part of the nursery is separated into different play areas that the children can free flow between. The areas provide a well planned mixture of messy play, sensory play, role play, small world play, construction play, focused learning play and quiet soft comfy enjoyment.
The staff plan to create an environment that is fun and provides rich and varied opportunities for exploration. While children have fun playing the staff team are supporting children in their play to help develop learning and understanding.

 The garden

for all the children. It is recommended that children have access to well planned outside play at least 50% of the time that they are at a nursery. Our outside play space is large enough for all the children to be outside at the same time if they would like to. The staff plan for outside play just the same as they do for the inside play to ensure it is fun and covers all areas of learning and development.

Benefits of free flow play
Government guidance
Each area within the nursery has a member of staff assigned to manage an area. As children enter the space the staff member will support the children as they play. free flow play has been proven to be more beneficial for the children as it more closely reflects the 'at home' experience. When children have more choice and freedom to move between spaces they develop greater independence and remain happier. Children are happier and achieve more if they experience continual access to outside play that is well planned. The government has set guidelines in planning for learning and development through play. The first Curriculum is called "Birth to Three Matters" and covers our younger childrens' needs from three months to three years old. The foundation stage covers our older children's needs from three years to five years old (end of reception class).
